Joseph A. Irvine
B.A.(Hons), LL.B.
Joe is an experienced litigator focusing exclusively on family law and estates and is a partner with the firm. He has successfully advocated on behalf of his clients at all levels of court in Ontario including the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He is a member of the Advocates Society.
Joe’s practice also places a substantial emphasis on out-of-court alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation, arbitration and Collaborative Family Law. He is a member of the Collaborative Family Law Association of Waterloo Wellington, the Ontario Collaborative Law Federation as well as the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
In addition to his barrister work, Joe is happy to assist his clients with their real estate and estate planning needs.
Joe received his honours degree in History and Political Science at Huron University College at Western in London, Ontario and then his law degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. After obtaining work experience in London, England, he returned to Waterloo Region, where he was raised, in 2000. After completion of his articles and Bar Admission Course, he subsequently joined the firm at the start of 2002.
Along with his wife and two children, Joe makes a home in Waterloo where he is active in the community as a volunteer director of HopeSpring Cancer Support Centre and a past director of Victim Services of Waterloo Region.
