Karin Maiterth
B.A. (Hons), LL.B., Adoption Licensee
Karin was born and raised in Augsburg, Germany, and moved to Kitchener with her family in her early teens. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Honours Political Science at the University of Waterloo, followed by a law degree at Queen’s University. During law school Karin spent three years with Queen’s Legal Aid as both a case-worker and group leader.
Karin was called to the Bar in 2005, following completion of her articles at Giesbrecht, Griffin & Funk. After her call to the Bar, Karin was pleased to continue her work with the firm as an associate.
Karin enjoys practising in the areas of adoption law, family law, wills, estate administration, and residential real estate. Within the area of adoption law, Karin assists clients who are interested in private, step-parent, relative adoptions and surrogacies. In addition, Karin is a private adoption licensee authorized by the Province of Ontario to place children for adoption. As a native German speaker, Karin enjoys being able to assist our clientele in the German language, if required.
Karin is an active volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southwestern Ontario and a member of the K-W Business Women’s Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Waterloo Law Association. She enjoys running, travelling and the outdoors.
Karin resides with her husband in Kitchener.
