Real Estate Law Clerk

 

GGFI Law is looking for a Real Estate Law Clerk. The Real Estate Law Clerk is required to provide support and prepare documents for the Real Estate Department and its lawyers. GGFI Law prides itself on providing a friendly and collegial environment and a competitive compensation package.

 

Job Duties:

 

The job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage files from beginning to end, including drafting all documents and correspondence
  • Manage mortgage transactions, including drafting all mortgage documents, correspondences with solicitors for the lenders and borrowers, ensuring timely funding of mortgages
  • Place title insurance,
  • Perform electronic registrations
  • Read and interpret title/writ/execution searches and determine when off-title searches are required.
  • Prepare and calculate final ledgers and determine final amounts due from and owing to clients.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Detail-oriented, organized with strong time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Teraview, Conveyancer, PCLaw and the entire MS Office suite;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to work both independently and as a member of a team;
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and multi-task

Accounting Clerk

GGFI is looking for an Accounting/Bookkeeping Clerk in our accounting department. The primary purpose of the position is to provide support to the accounting department in various ways. The right candidate will also have the possibility to grow and learn within this position and take on additional accounting tasks in the future. Job Duties:

 

  • Entering and updating relevant data in the accounting software system (PC Law)
  • Entering account payables
  • Organizing files and documents
  • Preparation of billing accounts
  • Completing bank runs

Reception/Administrative Clerk

GGFI Law is looking for a professional, energetic, outgoing and friendly individual to join our team as a full time receptionist and administrative clerk.  This position will be supporting our main receptionist and will also include various other administrative tasks.

 

Duties:

 

This position will include:

 

  • Welcoming and greeting clients to our firm both in person and over the phone
  • Sorting and distributing mail and other documents
  • Assisting with file management including refiling, closing, pulling, sorting and organizing
  • Ordering office supplies
  • Scanning closed files
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Previous work experience in a reception role of at least a year is required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with a multi-line phone system
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time well
  • Quick learner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with PCLaw would be an asset
  • Access to a car is not necessary

  • Previous experience in a law firm an asset
  • Exceptional organizational skills & attention to detail

The Student Experience

GGFI Law LLP offers a wide spectrum of legal experiences for students pursuing either summer or articling positions. The GGFI Law experience includes exposure to such areas as Civil Litigation, Family Law, Wills and Estates, Small Claims Court, the Landlord and Tenant Board, and Real Estate & Corporate/Commercial transactions. Carriage over Small Claims Court and Landlord and Tenant Board files allows students the opportunity to interact with clients, firm lawyers, opposing counsel, as well as the judiciary, and to gain invaluable hands-on legal experience. Our students appear before such judicial bodies as the Ontario Human Rights Commission, Provincial Offences Court, Small Claims Court, the Landlord and Tenant Board, motions and assignment court for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and arbitrations.

GGFI Law’s lawyers and staff provide a co-operative and helpful working environment to foster students’ legal development. GGFI Law views all students as not only potential future associates, but as potential future partners who can share in and contribute towards the ongoing success of the firm.
