GGFI Law is seeking a part-time Administrative Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will provide administrative support to the firm, including preparing correspondence, organizing files, and ensuring smooth processes for our team and clients. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of files, and respond to requests for information or file retrieval
  • Contact clients by phone and email for scheduling, information gathering and follow-ups
  • Prepare and edit emails, correspondence, reports and other documents
  • Perform general administrative duties such as data entry, scanning and filing
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the Estates Department and its lawyers by preparing legal documents, managing files, and ensuring smooth processes for our clients. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Applications of Certificates of Appointment (with or without a Will)
  • Complete Estate Information Returns
  • Draft and review estate, trust, guardian, and attorney accounts

  • Complete reporting letters and other necessary correspondence
  • Assist in the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney
  • Perform other related duties as required

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in family law, strong knowledge of the Family Law Rules and court procedures, and the ability to manage complex files with skill and efficiency. While family law expertise is the top priority, experience in other practice areas, such as civil litigation, will be considered an asset. The successful:

  • Oversee all aspects of multiple active family law files with minimal supervision
  • Prepare and draft family law documents, including financial statements, pleadings, and court forms
  • Screen new clients and gather initial information
  • Triage and respond appropriately to incoming correspondence
  • Request, review, and manage third-party records
  • Communicate with clients in a professional, empathetic, and responsive manner
  • Diarize deadlines electronically and ensure timely follow-ups

Finance Manager – Contract (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Full-time, Fixed Term Contract

Pay: $90,000 - $115,000 per year

 

GGFI Law is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team on a contract basis to cover a maternity leave. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial management expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced professional environment. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage regular financial tasks, including issuing cheques, account reconciliations and vendor payments
  • Maintain trust and general accounting records in compliance with Law Society regulations
  • Support real estate closings by processing trust deposits, issuing wire transfers, posting transactions in Soluno, and coordinating with the real estate team to ensure timely and accurate fund disbursement
  • Oversee GIC setup and redemptions in coordination with financial institutions and lawyers
  • Approve and process wire transfers and other firm-wide payments
  • Support year-end financial activities, including reporting for professional corporations and external accountants
  • Prepare and review financial reports and budgets
  • Assist with regulatory filings such as the Law Society Annual Report and insurance renewals
  • Maintain accounting software access, settings, and user permissions
  • Provide backup support to general accounting team functions as needed
  • Other tasks and duties as required by the firm

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience working as a Finance Manager or similar role
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and firm information
  • Proficiency with accounting software (experience with Soluno and QuickBooks is an asset)
  • Experience in a law firm is a strong asset
  • CPA designation is an asset
  • Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills

 

 

Litigation Law Clerk

Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $55,000 - $80,000 per year

 

GGFI Law is currently seeking a Litigation Law Clerk to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Litigation Department and its lawyers with document preparation, file management, and client communication. GGFI Law prides itself on providing a friendly and collegial environment and a competitive compensation package.
 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • General law clerk and legal assistant duties on civil litigation files (e.g. employment, estates, construction, personal injury and commercial litigation)
  • Conduct new client screenings
  • Oversee all aspects of multiple active client files
  • Triage and respond to incoming correspondence appropriately
  • Request and follow up on third-party records
  • Maintain regular communication with clients
  • Diarize deadlines electronically
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including court forms, motion records, affidavits of documents, statements of claim, briefs, bills of costs, etc.
  • Schedule client meetings, discoveries, client assessments, mediations, trials, etc.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as organizing digital files, scanning, binding documents etc.

  • A minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience in a reputable law firm
  • Experience in other legal practice areas considered an asset
  • Experience with ACL considered an asset

The Student Experience

GGFI Law LLP offers a wide spectrum of legal experiences for students pursuing either summer or articling positions. The GGFI Law experience includes exposure to such areas as Civil Litigation, Family Law, Wills and Estates, Real Estate & Corporate/Commercial transactions.

 

When working with our barristers, students will attend arbitrations and have carriage over Small Claims Court and Landlord and Tenant Board files, which will allow them the opportunity to interact with clients, opposing counsel, as well as the judiciary, each of which allows students to gain invaluable hands-on legal experience. Our students also appear before judicial bodies such as the Ontario Human Rights Commission, Provincial Offences Court, and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

 

When working with our solicitors, students will gain valuable experience drafting and reviewing contracts, such as partnership agreements, shareholders’ agreements, privacy policies, commercial leases, and real estate agreements of purchase and sale. Our students will also assist with large asset and share purchases of businesses, incorporating new companies including professional corporations, reorganizations of existing corporate share structures, and working with charitable organizations, including making applications to the Charities Directorate of Canada Revenue. Students will be a part of client meetings and strategic planning sessions with clients, brokers and accountants.
