The current parent and grandparent sponsorship program is only available to a select few Canadians each year. Although a new program is in the works, the government has yet to announce or implement any such measures. While a normal visitor visa only allows visitors to remain in Canada for 6 months at a time, super visas enable eligible parents and grandparents to remain in Canada for up to five years. Super visas can also be valid for up to ten years.
