GGFI Law LLP wishes to announce that after forty-three years of practice, the firm's founder, Ted Giesbrecht, retired on December 31, 2023. Ted founded the firm on April 15, 1981, with one lawyer and a staff of one secretary in Kitchener, Ontario. Over the decades the firm enjoyed steady stable growth and now has nineteen lawyers and forty staff.

Ted practised in the areas of real estate, corporate law, wills and estates and adoption law. His adoption practice took him to Guatemala, Ukraine, Ethiopia, South Sudan, South Africa and Haiti, often to help children caught up in difficult circumstances whether economic, political or due to natural disasters.

The firm has developed a succession plan that ensures that Ted's clients will continue to have their legal needs met in the future. Ted's assistant of thirty-two years, Jayne Leslie, will take calls from his clients and direct them to a lawyer best suited to take on a specific matter.

Ted looks forward to continuing his volunteer work helping vulnerable children, to enjoying more time with family, especially his four grandchildren, and enjoying his hobbies and travelling.

He extends his heartfelt gratitude for the patronage of the many clients he has served over the course of his legal career.
